Madeline Cohen, LCMHCA
Welcome!! My name is Madeline and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. I strive to hold a safe and authentic space for my clients where they can feel supported. Creating a therapeutic relationship is vital to fostering a space of mental healing, and I strive to make that with my clients.
I believe you are the expert on your own life, and I can provide support and encouragement to assist you in meeting your chosen goals and process your experiences without judgment. I will also strive to help you consider the social, cultural, and political contexts that contribute to your presenting concerns. I will be there for you by listening, empathizing, offering suggestions and alternatives, challenging, and providing you the tools to foster psychological growth.
I grew up in Charlotte, but in 2016 ended up moving to Boone and attending Appalachian State University. While at App State, I received my Bachelors in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services. I also received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling there. I knew I couldn't leave the mountains, so I still call Boone my home, providing services to the community.
During my Masters program, I completed practicum and internship at Appalachian State Counseling and Psychological Services. In that time, I discovered my passion for working with college students, young adults, and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, grief, major life changes, and other mental health concerns.
Some more info about me- for fun, I enjoy flow arts and fire spinning, skiing and snowboarding, hanging out with my guinea pig, Bean, and spending time in nature.
